SkRead: abandonware speaking of Skype events

Wednesday, February 4th, 2009

SkRead was once enormously popular, and I must firstly extend an apology to everyone who’s wanted updates but hasn’t got them. It’s something of a policy with me that if I’ve written software and no longer use it, I cannot, in good conscience, update that software.

of course there are exceptions to this rule - I can’t be expected to use my own software for every conceivable task, equally I use some of my own things more than others. But I no longer use Skype, and so no longer use (or can help work on) SkRead. to add insult to injury, the source code is long-since lost in a hard drive crash.

With all that said, I gladly put here the download of SkRead. Please feel free to comment, if you have anything at all to say.

SJAMS: abandonware JAWS integration for mIRC

Wednesday, February 4th, 2009

SJAMS is a plug-in for the mIRC chat client and JAWS screen reader.

I don’t use IRC much nowadays and so haven’t updated it in ages. However, it always has been open-source and is useful in its current form. here it shall remain for your pleasure.
SJAMS can be downloaded here, and as always, comments are welcome.

Proxy Toggler: abandonware to toggle windows proxy

Wednesday, February 4th, 2009

Proxy Toggler is something I hacked-up for my own personal use one day at school, used whilst studying there, and have never needed to bother with since.

Basically put, it allows you to turn the use of a Proxy server on or off within windows’ Internet Options. You can Toggle the state of the proxy with a desktop shortcut, command-line or within the program’s window, and store commonly-used proxys to switch to quickly.

Open-source and no-longer maintained, enjoy Proxy Toggler

Copy IP: Abandonware for putting your IP address on the clipboard

Wednesday, February 4th, 2009

I wrote this program primarily to help me give out my IP address for Internet-based games and conferences. Once again it is something I’m not really going to be working on much, once again the source code is included. There is also a French translation, you can “télécharger le programme Copy IP en français”.

it’s real easy to use - run it, select the appropriate IP (it shows internal network addresses and external IP) and press enter.

Copy IP is here. Comments welcome!

JUnpack. Abandonware for extracting JAWS scripts

Tuesday, February 3rd, 2009

Long, long ago on a website far, far away…

no, i’m not really a fan of Star Wars - but it seemed a fitting tribute to the first entry here relating to my own software.

JUnpack is software written by myself and Matthew Horspool many moons ago, to aid in the extraction of JAWS scripts. it is now outdated and there are other solutions on the Internet, but it is provided here for your convenience.

This is the first of a few projects I will be uploading here under the “abandonware” flag. This simply means that I will no longer be working on this particular project - or, in some cases, version of a project. I’ve decided to add these old files because I cannot help but notice that many of my visitors come from sites that talk about these old programs - it seems a shame to disappoint.

I gladly will answer questions about anything abandoned, though; please feel free to post them as comments here - if you don’t want your comment to go public, simply say so when you write it and I promise to respect you and leave your words out of my reply.

Enough said then, if you want it, you can download JUnpack from here. may it rest well and if you still use it, serve you faithfully.
